Join our Tree Planting Program

Right now putting down roots is probably the last thing on your mind. But even as you enjoy the freedom of travel, it’s hard to ignore the environmental damage affecting our planet at an alarming rate. Especially if you consider the very affect you are having traveling here or even being here. In fact, we’ve measured the energy consumption of Oarsman’s Bay and the energy it takes for you to fly here. That way we can determine how much carbon is being released and using a formula set by the IHEI (International Hotels Environment Initiative), we can work out how many trees you need to plant: if you traveled from the EU, 5 trees are needed, from the USA, 3 trees and AUS/NZ, 2 trees.

Apart from the forest depletion, soil erosion and resource overuse, we all know the real damage is being caused by carbon emissions which lead to global warming – carbons such as the aircraft flying you to this paradise released. But you can make a difference in a very simple way… By planting a tree (or three!), or just simply purchasing a tree for just F $ 5.00 for us to plant on the island, you’ll be helping to balance out the carbons released into the atmosphere each year on the island.

By planting some trees you’re assistance will help Conserve the ecological balance of Nacula, allowing future guests to enjoy unspoilt paradise. By preserving the immediate resort area and surrounding Island, Oarsman’s Bay practice sustainable and responsible eco tourism, and most importantly, give back to the local community. In addition, profits will benefit the entire Tikina (community), with the funds generated going towards the Ratu Meli Memorial Primary school for school development projects and educational materials.

Your gift grows in more ways than one – by planting some trees your assistance will help:

  • Conserve the ecological balance of Nacula Island
  • Allow future guests to enjoy unspoilt paradise
  • In carbon reduction or neutralization
  • Preserve the immediate resort area and surrounding Island
  • Oarsman’s Bay practice sustainable and responsible eco tourism
  • And most importantly, it will give back to the local community.

Please check the office when you arrive at Oarsman’s Bay Lodge, or ask one of our staff about how you can help.
